Transformational Grief Workshop Series, Session 3

Hosted by the Empowered Endings Foundation, in partnership with The Elizabeth Hospice, come join us for a series of three 2-hour workshops to transform grief into hope and resilience. The workshops will be led by Lori Krause, a grief specialist, and Laing Rikkers, author of the award-winning book Morning Leaves: Reflections on Loss, Grief, and Connection. We will explore the power of nature, art, and connection in the healing process by listening to and writing poetry, creating our own journals, doing crafts, and engaging in group discussions. Cannabis for Palliative, End of Life & Hospice Care

Presented by Elisabeth & Sherri Mack, nurse educators and integrative care advocates will share the science behind using cannabis therapeutically at end of life, along with personal stories and clinical insights. Learn how cannabis supports pain management, appetite, breath, energy, and emotional well-being—while also enhancing lucidity and fostering connection between patients and loved ones.

  • Why cannabis can offer relief when opioids and other pharmaceuticals fall short
  • How THC, CBD, minor cannabinoids, and terpenes interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS)

We’ll discuss how these powerful plant and compound allies may support terminal patients in achieving emotional resolution, spiritual insight, and a peaceful transition.

  • An overview on the many types of psychedelics and their mechanism of action
  • What landmark clinical studies at Johns Hopkins, NYU, and Imperial College London reveal about psilocybin’s impact on terminal patients

  • The current ethical and legal landscape for psychedelic therapy
